Overview....!!

As part of the introduction and application for an integrated community Psychosocial support, each team member has developed a Memory box, a Memory book and a Hero book. these tools can be used in diverse ways, by parents, by guardians, individually, with children in kids and youth clubs too. The focus of the questions shift from each age group too.

In Africa the concept for i-cPSS, continues to deepen as young people continue to take the lead in the applications of the concept through Kids and youth clubs, community conversations and home visits. The impact of Psychosocial support in some of the communities, has been competent leadership in vulnerable children and a transfer of energy, vision, change and skills; across communities. Chilren have provided entry points to homes, but also influenced change in the communities.

This concept is 'new' in this context, and hence a provocation to realise that there has been a group of people 'marginalized'. The team mentioned, that young girls are vulnerable because they are married off at an early age. I have met an 11 and a 13year old who are already married. Young boys are also, forced into hard labour and the physically impaired children are openly stigmatized....

Memory work is one of the Principles for applying i-cPSS directly with children. Others are: - >2. Leadership development>3. Play therapy>4. Adventure based learning> and 5.Discipleship>

The concept for Integration and community participation forms a foundation for a wholistic care and support for Vulnerable children; as accompanied; by a Facilitation team.

Concept paper and further information on PSS are available on request.
