Borders being broken....Part I

We are still developing a profile and presence in the community. Relationships are beginning to emerge and develop too.

Shital and Roni have been connecting with the children; and yesterday the kids said that its the first time for them to play together ( Muslims and Christians)and that its so much fun! Shital and Roni were also told by the kids that they know when girls mature, they go to India for some kind of work. The games are the 'thing' now and the team will follow those conversations through the 'unseen Kids club'

Its school holidays over here and its been great to connect with people and connect with children.

The men are inviting us to join them in the bazaar one of the evenings to talk (bazaars are places where people meet and drink Cha or Tea). Richard, Roni, Rupa and myself went out this evening for a walk and I was introduced to 'street' cha. Its served in a tiny glass, its white tea with alot of sugar. Seriously..; its sweet... As usual, people begun to gather around. There was peace around them, so; we just relaxed and said cheers to each other - the crowd laughed and kept staring......in silence!

In the community....

We met a young man who has provided a link for us to enter into the Muslim community. We had a home visit. And as usual, people would gather at the door and we would just have a conversation. One man was telling us that girls in the community are very intelligent, they are capable of manipulating things and are hardly caught; but anytime a girl becomes 'naughty' with a boy, and are discovered. The boy pays a fee to the girls family, and the two would be married! The community would blame the boy because they say, 'it takes only a minute to woo a girl, so its not the girls fault!!!...

Most of the girls in the community also don't know their ages, I have asked a few, but, they don't. They have no Identification card, nor birth certificates! They were born. The most interesting part is, in one home you can find a 5yr old, and a 90yr old.

The two families ( Christians and Muslims) are all hardworking people; women are ever busy and very industrious, children assist in house chores and husbands do businesses. There is cohesion beginning to emerge as The Lord continues to bring others to assist.

The borders are kinda crumbling slowly....
