We met with the elders on Friday afternoon and continued with conversations that had begun the previous week. They expressed, gratitude to the team for the changes they are beginning to see....
" The community is shifting, relationships between neighbours is being strengthened because of your presence. You have visited many homes and people in the homes have told us that they are feeling encouraged" One leader...
"Our women, have begun to clean themselves early and dress well" another Elder...
"We need to share and learn from each other; there are young people that can also be involved with you and be creative in things like drama, dance, poems, songs" another Elder..
We didn't like you when you first visited two weeks ago; we thought you had agendas like many people who have come here, but we have seen and heard of your work in the community. Even the Muslim communities have begun to come closer to us, and they appreciate that you have not discriminated them during the home visits"

A YCD participation (talents afternoon), that will act as an entry point for a wider community gathering on Friday 20 June
After the meeting, one of the elders; with contributions; from other elders and women met during home visits, served us a hot meal. It was an unexpected gesture!
We thanked the Lord for the day...
