3 July: Thursday:

The team was joined by the DO of Jessore, Captain Ganendro Baroi. Together we spent the afternoon in the community. We linked with a YCD process, including a community K-club which the (new) local facilitation teams supported in leading.

At the same time, a few of us spend time with the elders of the community. The meeting was led by Tribina ( local team). This would be our fourth meeting since we begun the process in the village. The conversations with the elders have shifted to the better. Our relationships in the community have been very good, the elders have reached a point where they are no longer ashamed to share their own 'elders' concerns that seem to be leading to alot 'stagnant' concerns.

Micro-credit schemes continue to be a challenge for the villagers, the interests for paying back are so high that some villagers have opted to run away from their homes.

There is hope. The youth, children and women have strongly moved on in making decisions and the changes through them, are influencing and greatly pressuring the men and elders to act!

We have a last elders meeting on Wednesday 9 July and the local team continues with those strategic conversations.
