'Death for Life'....Shitol Roy

Shitol Roy is 17 years old; a young person who is part of the Pilot FRONTIER team in Bangladesh; he was born in a non-Christian family. He says he worshipped idols as that was part of his tradition with his family. One day he watched a film on the life and story of Jesus Christ, and he saw this ‘man’ who apparently died for everyone’s sins. “…one man died and gave his life for me…? “He asked. He went back and kept wondering about this one man who died for him. How could that be?

He visited one of the Christian churches and heard a sermon, and the preacher was talking about this Man Jesus. Shitol wondered where the preacher was getting this information about the man Jesus from? How did he know about him and all the detail information about Jesus? That is when; He was introduced to the Bible and Christianity. He has moved on to becoming a Soldier of Christ through The Salvation Army receiving; double blessings for his faith. He is persecuted a lot in his community, because he is the only Christian, but the desire and motivation of knowing Jesus gives him power.

His friends attend many traditional worship ceremonies, but he spends most of his time talking about Jesus. “My friends usually come and tell me after the ceremonies that it’s very difficult to worship many gods, we just do it because it’s what we know, but I know why I have a relationship with the one true God.”
Shitol’s grandmother is over 80years old, on Friday 23 May was her first time to step in a church and she was overjoyed with the experience. She couldn’t believe what she has been missing her entire life. God is using Shitol to reach through his own family.
